Military Honors thru the Veterans Adminstration
Qualifying Veterans are eligible for benefits for their service to this Great Nation. Eligibility is determined based on the Veteran’s DD-214, or their discharge papers. Military funeral honors are mandated by law and free of charge to those veterans who are qualified. Some of the cemetery honors include: -A three-volley rifle salute -The U.S. flag draped over the casket -A final salute at the gravesite. An honor guard detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces may be present for eligible veterans. A presentation of the American flag to the next of kin may be made and "Taps" will be played by a bugler or recording.
Additionally, Veterans may be eligible for, by working with the VA, for a presidential Memorial Certificate signed by the President, a headstone or marker, and reimbursement of burial expenses.
