“The Final Lap”

October 2, 2017

Dear Friends,

Three years ago, our congregation embarked on an endeavor to aggressively pay off our mortgage.  Over the past three years, more than $300,000 has been raised to pay off our principle.  As I write this post, we only have around $96,000 left to finally be debt free!  The light at the end of the tunnel is so very close!

That three year campaign, which we called “Unlocking Our Potential,” will be coming to an end this fall.  So, the time is here again to have another campaign to pay off our debt.  But, this time, the campaign is so very different.  Because this time, it is our FINAL debt relief campaign!  And, instead of a three year campaign, we have decided that only one year is needed to finally be freed from our debt, which has hung heavy around our necks for over two decades.  This campaign will be “The Final Lap.”  A mortgage burning party WILL happen soon.

“The Final Lap” campaign has two goals.  The first of course, is to pay off the mortgage.  The second goal is to establish a “Capital Improvements Reserve” to be used for major repairs to our building and property.  After the mortgage is paid off, the remaining pledges and gifts will be used to establish this reserve.

We have also been informed that there will be some sizable contributions made through various estates toward our Building Fund/Capital Improvements Reserve in the near future.  Though, it may take some time before those funds arrive.  If these funds arrive after the debt is paid off, they will go a long way toward securing our reserves to keep our property maintained.

The week of October 2nd, all members and regular contributors will be mailed a pledge card for this “Final Lap” pledge drive.  Please fill out the card and bring it with you to worship on Sunday, October 15.  There are four options on this pledge card: a weekly pledge, a monthly pledge and a one-time pledge.  The fourth option is called “The Miracle Option.”  The miracle option is also a one-time gift that will be collected the same morning as the pledges (10/15).  If you choose the “Miracle Option,” you may use the envelope that will be enclosed with your pledge card for your gift to bring on the 15th.

We believe in a God of Miracles. Could a miracle happen on the 15th of October?  Please pray and listen for God’s guidance in which pledge option you choose and what level of generosity God desires you to practice. Can you see the finish line?  Will you help us reach it as quickly as possible?

Blessings in Christ,

Rev. Patrick Gruber
