The worship hour begins at 10:15 and typically lasts one hour. There is always some form of Hospitality Time following worship. Help yourself to coffee and refreshments! Sunday School classes for all ages are held prior to worship at 9:15am.
The music during worship is typically more traditional. We use pipe organ and piano equally each week with occasional special instrumentation. We also have a full choir with occasional special music. We choose songs from a hymnal and a more contemporary song book. Lyrics are also projected during worship.
Children in Worship
PCW always encourages bringing children to worship. We believe that it is important for families to worship together, and for children to learn about worship by being with their parents. However, we know that sometimes parents need options. There is a fully staffed nursery available and a cry room. You may accompany your children there before or during the service. There is also a children’s message during worship in which they are welcome to come forward. Parents are welcome to accompany kids for the Children’s Message if they are nervous.
The Lord’s Supper
We celebrate the sacrament of The Lord’s Supper (same as Communion) on the first Sunday of the month. PCW practices an Open Table. We will not turn away anyone who is hungry or thirsty for Christ. Because children are also welcomed to take communion, and out of respect for those people with aversions to alcohol, PCW uses grape juice instead of wine.
The Lord’s Prayer
PCW regularly uses the Lord’s Prayer during worship. We use the words “debts” and “debtors” instead of “trespass” and “trespass against us.” Don’t feel bad if you use a different version. If you don’t have the Lord’s Prayer memorized, don’t worry. We will have the words in print or projected for your convenience.
Each service includes the opportunity for an offering – a time when we can give back to the Lord just a small portion of the gifts we have received. Offerings support the various ministries of our church. While many of our members and regular attendees give as much as they can, please know that any gift of any size would be most welcomed. However, please do not feel obligated to give. If you are visiting us for the first time, please consider that service “on the house.”
